Family values are more than just a few words you write down once and forget about it.
They’re fun to think about — but too often it ends right there. Family values are the moral and ethical principles that guide the behavior and decision-making of a family.
Sounds a little dense? Here’s the simplified scoop.
It’s much easier to make choices when you have a framework. Your values are your framework in which you’ll evaluate each “new” decision.
These values are often passed down from generation to generation and are deeply rooted in the family’s beliefs, traditions, and culture. While every family has its own unique set of values, there are some fundamental principles that are universally recognized as important for fostering healthy, strong, and loving relationships within a family. We’ll get into these fundamentals during the Strong Family Project Podcast.
In the meantime, know that if your family hasn’t passed any down, you’re not alone. Ours didn’t either. Still, it that’s no excuse not to start. It’s now our responsibility to make it right for our families.
